Activities for All
All pupils at Harlyn take part in weekly singing assemblies, where we sing a range of repertoire. Our pupils also have the opportunity to take part in school productions, including Christmas Plays, Easter Productions and the end of year productions. Classes also have the opportunity to perform in class assemblies every year.
We try to offer the children as many enriching activities as possible. For example, we arranged external workshops for all pupils as part of our World Music Day celebrations in 2022. We also work closely with our local Music Hub in order to provide peripatetic lessons. Many pupils have begun these as a result of taster sessions they have provided to all pupils. Further information on how to sign up for lessons can be found at: https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/startmusic
Extra-Curricular Clubs
Harlyn Primary School has a very successful choir open to pupils in years three to six. They rehearse weekly, completing vocal warm-ups and learning a range of songs. The choir has the opportunity to perform at a number of events both within school and in the wider community.
In addition to this, we are introducing the 'Song Squad' for our year 2 pupils in the summer term. This allows the children to gain an insight into how choir rehearsals run and experiencing performing at events; providing a stepping stone to our established KS2 choir.
We also have a 'music ensemble'. Pupils from Key Stage 2 who have instrumental lessons are invited to perform as part of a group. It is a wonderful opportunity for pupils to expand their musical skills and perform in front of their peers.
New this academic year, we will also be running a music technology club, open to pupils in Key Stage 2. This will allow the pupils to use a range of software in order to compose, play, perform and edit their own music.
