Miss Reid Mrs Taylor
We hope you have had a wonderful Easter break and are ready to work hard in your last term in year 6 at Harlyn Primary School!
We still have so much to look forward to:
-'Head Boy' and 'Head Girl' duties
You are the eldest in the school, we expect you to set a wonderful example to those below you.
In year 6 we expect:-
- Pupils to have correct equipment for each lesson and to return homework on time.
- To have correct kit for indoor/outdoor PE and to undertake tasks with increasing independence.
- To prepare your child for secondary school, we will be implementing the same rules and sanctions as a secondary school would regarding lack of equipment and kit. No PE kit/ forgotten books/ no signed diary – detention.
Outdoor PE this term will be focusing on athletics.
Indoor PE will be looking at cognitive skills for dance.
Indoor PE: both classes have indoor PE on a Friday.
Outdoor PE: both classes have outdoor PE on a Monday.
Children are expected to read everyday; a reading record card will need to be completed each week and returned, signed by an adult every Monday. Spellings and English homework will be set every Wednesday and will be due in on the following Wednesday. Spelling tests will take place weekly on a Friday. Grammar homework is set on a Wednesday and returned on Friday (two days). Maths homework will be set every Tuesday and will be due in on the Tuesday of the following week. There is an expectation that children will additionally practise and learn by heart their multiplication and division facts.
Natural History Museum
We had such a brilliant day exploring the fossils and evolution hall at the Natural History Museum!
We went back in time whilst visiting RAF Hendon... A brilliant day was had by all!
Crazy Hair Day!!
On Friday 8th February the FRA held a crazy hair day to raise money for charity.
Well done to Sophie and Nyla who won a prize for the 'craziest hair style'!
World Book Day 2018
This year for world book day Harlyn's theme was bedtime stories.
We all came to school dressed in our PJs!
The children really enjoyed reading with the younger children in year 2.
Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their educational trip to Brunel University.
The children learnt a lot about various life skills and how to stay safe in secondary school.
Easter SATs Revision
Please find links to maths, SPaG and reading revision papers below.
All year 6 children are encouraged to use these revision papers to help keep them busy during the Easter break and prepare for SATs tests in May.
Children do not need to complete the papers in one day but rather work steadily for 15 or so minutes each day. A little and often is better than a lot in one go!
Although this is optional homework, we feel that children would greatly benefit from this.
If you need any more information about these resources please contact your child’s teacher.
We hope you enjoy completing this work during the Easter holiday and thank you for your help in supporting your child’s development.
