In class, it would be useful for you to have the following items in your pencil case:
· 2 HB pencils
· A 30 cm ruler
· A handwriting pen
· A set of colouring pencils
· A rubber and sharpener
· A glue stick (Pritt stick)
Please make sure these are ALL clearly labelled with your name. Your uniform and PE kit should also be named.
You are now at the top of Key Stage 2 and before you know it you’ll be preparing for Year 6. This means we expect a consistently high standard of work. Neat presentation is vital to success. In all subjects, we expect you to use the ‘DUMLUM’ rules. In Year 5, you will be expected to write in pen; however, your pen license can be taken away if your handwriting deteriorates. In Maths, we expect you to use pencil at all times, to write only one number per square and to leave a line after each question. We expect you to try your best at all times; you are responsible for what you learn – you can achieve anything if you put in the effort.
Homework is set and due on the following days:
Maths/English/Topic/Art/Science Set: Friday Due: Wednesday
Spelling Tests Every Friday
Homework is not optional and we expect it to be handed in on time every week in order to support your learning in class.
In Year 5, you are required to read at home with or to an adult for 15-20 minutes a day. This should be recorded in your diary and signed by an adult every day/week. This will be checked each week on a Friday.
Please note the following days that each class has P.E:
Wednesday: Indoor P.E
Friday: Outdoor P.E
Tuesday: Outdoor P.E
Wednesday: Indoor P.E
Tuesday: Indoor P.E
Thursday: Outdoor P.E
Children should leave their P.E kits in school all week to avoid forgetting them on the day.
Please could you label all clothing and school items that belong to your children to ensure that nothing is misplaced.
